New Protocol Course Modules Available

Picture
CSEMS has added several new education modules to the CSEMS Protocol Course to support upcoming protocol updates scheduled to go live on January 1, 2026. These modules are designed to review clinical changes, highlight key practice updates, and prepare providers for implementation.
The newly added modules include:
  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol®): Overview of expanded scope, indications, dosing, and administration considerations.
  • Anxiety Protocol: Review of assessment, treatment options, and patient safety considerations.
  • Cardiac Algorithms Update: Summary of updates to cardiac care algorithms and treatment pathways.
  • Ceftriaxone (Rocephin®): Review of indications, administration, and transition from previous antibiotic therapy.
  • Hydroxocobalamin (Cyanide Kit): Expanded scope, Indications, administration, and safety considerations for suspected cyanide exposure.
  • Hypertension in Pregnancy – Update: Review of revised management strategies and medication guidance for hypertension in pregnancy, preeclampsia, and eclampsia.
  • Post-Fire Exposure Decontamination: Provider and patient safety considerations, including off-gassing risks and decontamination procedures.
Each module includes a preview of the protocol change, the corresponding education video, and the quiz associated with the update. For the best experience, providers should complete modules on a computer, as mobile devices may limit functionality.
At this time, these modules are not available in Google Classroom. They can be accessed through links distributed by CSEMS and within the associated Interim Guide documents. This information will also remain available on the CSEMS website.
This process serves as a temporary workaround to the LMS to allow multiple protocol changes to be rolled out efficiently before the end of the year. Upon completion of all modules, providers will receive a completion transcript by email. If a transcript is not received within one business day, please contact [email protected] with your name, certification number, and agency affiliation.
Providers are strongly encouraged to complete all modules within two (2) weeks. Agencies should share this information internally and begin preparing their providers for these upcoming changes.
For questions, please contact your agency medical director or the CSEMS Council.
